Me Love Cookies!

I had so much fun with the Sesame Street Birthday that I made more Cookie Monster cupcakes for the school carnival's cake walk.

Popsicles

I had to make these popsicles (from Mike & Ike candies and toothpicks) for my last batch of cupcakes for Leonard's seminary class.  I made lemon cakes with strawberry frosting, vanilla cakes with cotton candy frosting, and pineapple cakes with orange frosting.  They were a hit!

Lavender & Aqua

Last night I taught my Primary girls how to make cupcakes.  We had cute liners, rainbow bit cake, sprinkles galore, and I let them choose what colors we'd make the frosting.  Aqua and lavender were the colors with the most votes, so those were the colors we made.  The cupcakes turned out really cute, but I forgot my camera- doh!

Store Bought- Stinky Butt

For our anniversary my dear husband got us some fancy cupcakes from the bakery at our fancy grocery store.  I had noticed them before so he chose an oreo one for himself and a lemon one for me.  Don't they look divine?  Yeah, they do, but they taste like garbage!  I've learned my lesson- make them myself!

My hubby also picked up a half-dozen of these simpler ones for the kids.  Since we only have 5 kids, we shared the last one.  These weren't too bad.  Still not as good as home-made, but not as bad as the fancy ones, sigh.

Birthday Parties

For my 4 year old's birthday in April I made up some cupcakes- Sesame Street style.  Cookie Monster was the one I wanted to make first, but Oscar ended up being my favorite.  Elmo turned out prety cute too, but poor Big Bird looks like an Angry Bird, ha ha!

We had a Harry Potter for my 11 year old twins' party in March, so I had to make wizard hat cupcakes!

My baby turned 1 in October and I made these hoot owl cupcakes.
Who, who likes cupcakes?  Me!

I did put these cupcakes on this blog already, but I didn't want to leave out my 6 year old!  All 5 of my kids got homemade cupcakes from mom this year!

Caramel & Butter Pecan

This cupcake is cute, but not too fancy.  However, it probably has the best flavor combo:  butter pecan cake with caramel frosting- yu...um!!

Pastel Easter

For the seminary kids in March and for my kids' cultural food exchange at school I made up these little pastel Easter cuties.  The pink cake was strawberry flavored with lavender colored, white chocolate-raspberry flavored frosting.  The lavender cake was vanilla flavored with pink colored, bubblegum flavored frosting.  Notice a difference in the frosting textures?  The lavender frosting is fluffier because it was made with softened butter.  The pink frosting is flat and crunchy because it was made with melted butter.  Note to self if butter gets melted, get new butter, ha ha!

My camera doesn't photograph purple very well.  It makes dark purple look blue and lavender look gray, but trust me the lavender and pink looked so pretty in these little cuties!

Pink Lemonade

One of my Activity Day girls is moving across the country.  For her farewell party I made some lemon cupcakes (my favorite) with strawberry frosting (so good).

Big Hearts

For Valentine's Day I made rainbow bit cupcakes with pink buttercream and big red gummy hearts.

Mint Chocolate

I made some Devil's Food Cake cupcakes with mint frosting for my friend's birthday.  Chocolate and mint is one of my favorite flavor combinations- yum!

My favorite flavor- "french vanilla" cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and mini dark chocolate chips.

Gingerbread Men

For Gavin's birthday I made him chocolate cupcakes with the-best-ever chocolate frosting.  The Christmas wraps, sprinkles, and little pokes made them birthday special!

Santa hats

In December we invited Leonard's seminary class over for a Christmas party.  I whipped up some cherry cupcakes with red frosting that looked so cute in their Santa wrappers.

I also made some mint frosting for the brownie bites.  They were the hit of the evening!  Don't they look like puffy red and green tuques?

Pumpkins

Nothing says November like pumpkin!  I made some pumpkin cupcakes with another cream cheese frosting and just had to add the little candy pumpkins.

I made some more minis for Len's hometeaching families.

And some more for Gavin's class at school.

Girly-girl

I made these for my friend's 4 year old daughter's birthday.  They represent all that is good with the world!
(ailat)
I forgot to mention that the party girl's cupcakes were vanilla with cream cheese frosting.  Well, the recipe for the cream cheese goodness made a whole truckload of frosting.  What to do?  I made up some carrot/walnut/raisin/coconut cupcakes to use it on.  My family quite enjoyed them.

3-eyed Monsters

My favorite- lemon cakes with gooey buttercream.  Orange and purple are great for Halloween, especially with Monster eyes!
(yranimes rebotco)

Charleston Chew

These were just chocolate cakes with vanilla frosting, but the color combo of brown and pink made me think of Charleston Chews (I miss those).

Mint Chocolate

Mint and chocolate make a divine flavor combination.  So cute with these jumbo mint wafers,

or on these little minis.  Don't they look like flowers?

Rainbow Bright

On this blog I want to post yummy cake recipes, delicious frostings, and just cute cupcakes.  These are just cute cupcakes- basic vanilla and buttercream; the colorful wrappers, frosting, and sprinkles just make them sparkle!

Back-to-School Gold Stars

I'm trying to get this blog caught up, but I don't remember what these were.  A different white cupcake and vanilla buttercream, I think.

Watermelon Slice

I wish I had watermelon flavoring for these, but they were just vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting.  The pink frosting trimmed with green and chocolate chips is what made them a hit with the soccer team!
